Young Lawyers Section

The Young Lawyers Section promotes the objectives of the Kentucky Bar Association, assists young lawyers in the practice of law, conducts programs of interest and value to young lawyers and enhances the image of the legal profession.  

2010 Kentucky Law Update

The KBA presents the Kentucky Law Update one time in each Supreme Court District during the fall of each year. The program offers every Kentucky Bar Association member the opportunity to meet the annual CLE requirement, including ethics, close to home and with no registration fee.  

KBA e-News

This monthly newsletter provides information about the activities of the Kentucky Bar Association and other information relevant to attorneys practicing in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Bench and Bar

Each bi-monthly issue of Bench & Bar Magazine informs attorneys of new developments in the legal system, and helps to further educate attorneys in existing areas of the law. The magazine also provides an outlet for announcements of promotions, firm formations or relocations, and honors.

New Lawyers Program

June 6-7, 2012

The June 2012 New Lawyers Program (NLP) will be held in conjunction with the 2012 KBA Annual Convention in Louisville, Kentucky at the Galt House Hotel.  The dates of the New Lawyers Program portion of the convention are June 6-7, 2012. Day One is planned for all NLP attendees, however on Day Two, attendees will choose from the Convention Programming available. New Lawyers Program attendees are also invited to attend any Annual Convention sessions offered on Friday, June 8 at no cost, and earn additional CLE credits. The program is currently pending approval in Kentucky for CLE credits. Attendees are required to complete both scheduled days of programming in order to fulfill their New Lawyer Skills Program requirement.

Pre-Registration:
Registration will be available in early March 2012. A link to registration will be posted here once it is available.

Room Accommodations:

Hotel accommodations, if required, are the responsibility of the individual attendee. The Galt House Hotel is offering a special group rate to convention attendees. More rate information is coming soon!

Attire / Dress:

Business casual is suggested but not required. The weather in Louisville is very warm in June. However, the hotel meeting rooms are temperature controlled, so you may want to dress accordingly and bring a light jacket or sweater.

On Site Registration and Check In:

Please bring your confirmation letter to expedite the registration process. You must check in at the KBA Registration Desk upon arrival. Your name badge and other important and necessary information will be provided at that time.

Course Materials:

Course materials will be provided on site at the convention. Each meeting room will have the appropriate program materials for individual sessions.

Food/Refreshments:

There are refreshment breaks provided throughout the convention. However, attendees are on their own for all meals. There are some KBA planned meal events which require advance registration and an additional fee to attend. More information about these and other events will appear in the convention brochure once it is available. There are also various Downtown Restaurants within walking distance of the convention center.

Receptions:

There are two complimentary receptions available for New Lawyers Program attendees during the convention - The Kick-Off Event on Wednesday, June 6 at the Yum Center Spirit Room and the Young Lawyers Section Reception on Thursday, June 7 at Jeff Ruby's. More information about these and other events will appear in the convention brochure once it is available.

Directions:

The Galt House Hotel is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Louisville and is within walking distance of many downtown area attractions and restauants. Directions are available online.

 

Parking:

The Galt House has self-parking available in their garage at $12 per day for overnight guests and $16 per day for public patrons.
