KBA Board of Governors Election Results
The Kentucky Bar Association would like to announce the results from the recent elections that were held for bar governor representatives from the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th Supreme Court Districts: J. Tanner Watkins, Louisville, 4th district bar governor; Mindy G. Barfield, Lexington, 5th district bar governor; Todd V. McMurtry, Ft. Mitchell, 6th district bar governor and Rhonda J. Blackburn, Pikeville, 7th district bar governor.

Van F. Sims, Paducah, 1st district and Susan C. Montalvo-Gesser, Owensboro, 2nd district did not have contested elections and will serve as bar governor representatives, as well.

These KBA members will serve two-year terms as bar governor representatives and will take their oaths of office at the KBA Annual Convention, which will be held June 12-14 in Louisville, and will begin their terms on July 1, 2019.

University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law William Marshall Bullitt Memorial Lecture in Law-February 28, 2019
The University of Louisville School of Law is pleased to welcome Professor Marc I. Steinberg of SMU’s Dedman School of Law for this year’s William Marshall Bullitt Memorial Lecture in Law. An expert on insider trading law, Professor Steinberg will present "The Securities and Exchange Commission vs. Mark Cuban – A Trial of Insider Trading."

The event is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Thursday, February 28th, at the University Club located at 200 E. Brandeis Ave., Louisville, KY 40208.

Kentucky Bar Foundation
2019 Grants
The mission of the Kentucky Bar Foundation (KBF) is to further the public’s understanding of the judicial system and the legal profession through programs and philanthropic partnerships that help those in need. One of the ways that the KBF serves this mission is by awarding annual grants to law-related organizations and projects. Applications for the KBF’s 2019 grants are now available with a submission deadline of March 15, 2019. To be considered for a grant, your program must meet the following requirements, among others:
  • Recipient must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
  • The program or project for which funding is requested must have a law-related purpose and provide services in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
The Kentucky Bar Foundation will award its 2019 grants during its annual Fellows and Partners for Justice Society Luncheon on June 13, 2019. Please visit www.kybarfoundation.org/grants to request that a grant application be sent to you.
