Thursday, November 17, 2022
November 17, 2022 Attorneys: Consumer cases to be mandatory for eFiling at start of new year The third round of case types to be mandatory for eFiling will be those involving consumer goods and services and consumer fraud. The Supreme Court of Kentucky issued Administrative Order 2022-51 on Oct. 31 to require electronic filing in these cases as of Jan. 1, 2023. To use eFiling, attorneys must set up a KYeCourts account and complete training. To get started, visit https://ehelp.kycourts.net/. Under Attorneys & Legal Staff, click How Do I Get Certified to eFile? Register for a live virtual training with an instructor or complete a prerecorded online training. The Judicial Branch will offer the live virtual training via Zoom on Friday, Dec. 16, from 10 a.m.-noon ET. To go directly to registration for this training, visit https://bit.ly/3uy1jf0. Attorneys will be certified to eFile after successfully completing either type of training and will earn two hours of continuing legal education credit. Attorneys who have not obtained their eFiling certification in time to meet a court deadline for filing documents will be permitted to paper file if they have the Affidavit of Necessity. The affidavit form is available here. Thank you for working with us as we make electronic filing the sole way to file civil cases in Kentucky. If you need assistance with eFiling, please contact eCourtSupport@kycourts.net or call 502-573-2350 ext. 50109.
