Become a Mentor

Are you an experienced lawyer interested in sharing your wisdom and guidance with other attorneys needing support and guidance? If your answer is yes, then sign up to be a mentor. This program allows you to assist attorneys seeking answers, advice, and for some, an ongoing professional relationship as they navigate through the practice of law. It’s a great way to help attorneys and to give back to the legal profession.

If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please complete and submit the Mentor Sign-up Form below.  Once your submission is received and approved, your name with a link to your KBA public profile and any other provided information will be added to the list of Mentors made available to attorneys who have completed the GPS Services Request Form.

I understand that as a mentor participating in the Kentucky Bar Association Mentor Program, any advice I provide is solely for the purpose of guidance. I understand that the mentee and/or advisee will not rely upon my advice and/or statements as legal advice. I agree that I am not representing any of the mentee's and/or advisee’s clients or rendering legal advice to any client through the mentee and/or advisee.

I understand and agree that the information I provide will not be relied upon by the mentee and/or advisee as a substitute for his/her own independent judgment or professional legal opinions. Neither I nor the Kentucky Bar Association provides any warranty for information shared, divulged or given to the mentee and/or advisee.

I recognize and agree that if I receive knowledge that the mentee and/or advisee has engaged in professional misconduct, I may be obligated to report the conduct, if required by SCR 3.130(8.3) of the Kentucky Rules of Professional Conduct.

I will defend, indemnify and hold harmless, the mentee, advisee, the Kentucky Bar Association and the Kentucky Supreme Court, along with respective employees, volunteers and agents, from all actions, proceedings, claims, demands, costs, damages, attorney’s fees, and all other liabilities and expenses of any kind from any source which may arise out of the performance of this agreement.

I waive the confidentiality of SCR 3.150, and authorize the program to contact the Kentucky Bar Association Office of Bar Counsel and reveal whether I have any pending disciplinary matters or private discipline. I agree not to act as a mentor while any disciplinary matter is pending.

I understand that the certifications I have made on this form are continuing and must correctly and fully show information as of the date of my appointment as a mentor. I agree to notify the Kentucky Bar Association within ten (10) days as to any change to the information I am providing and/or of any incident that may have any bearing upon my ability to be a mentor.
