Become a Volunteer Advisor

Are you an experienced lawyer interested in sharing your wisdom and guidance with young attorneys just joining the legal profession, but don’t have the time or ability to meet in person? If your answer is yes, then this program is perfect for you! This program allows you to assist young attorneys seeking answers and advice through telephonic and email correspondence. It’s a great way to help young legal professionals without the commitment of appointments and in person meetings.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer advisor, please complete and submit the Volunteer Advisor Signup Form below.  Once your submission is received, your name with a link to your KBA public profile and any other provided information will be added to the list of volunteer advisors made available to new attorneys admitted to practice in Kentucky for five years or less. Note: Volunteers must be KBA members with five or more years of practice experience. Please refer to the Volunteer Disclaimer and Release information for other eligibility details.

If you would like to change the information listed or remove yourself from the list, contact our Program & Publications Coordinator at sblackburn@kybar.org or 502-564-3795 ext. 226.

I understand that as a volunteer participating in the Kentucky Bar Association Volunteer Advisor Program, any advice I provide is solely for the purpose of guidance. I understand that the advisee will not rely upon my advice and/or statements as legal advice. I agree that I am not representing any of the advisee's clients or rendering legal advice to any client through the advisee.

I understand and agree that the information I provide will not be relied upon by the advisee as a substitute for his/her own independent judgment or professional legal opinions. Neither I nor the Kentucky Bar Association provides any warranty for information shared, divulged or given to the advisee.

I recognize and agree that if I receive knowledge that the advisee has engaged in professional misconduct, I may be obligated to report the conduct, if required by SCR 3.130(8.3) of the Kentucky Rules of Professional Conduct.

I hereby agree that in no event will I file suit or otherwise attempt to hold liable for damages, the Kentucky Bar Association, any advisee, member, staff or agent of the Kentucky Bar Association as a result of my participation in this program. As an advisor, I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Kentucky Bar Association from any and all claims, suits, actions or proceedings of any kind arising out of, or in connection with, any advice or guidance I give in relation to this program.

Authorization is hereby given to determine from the Kentucky Bar Association Bar Counsel that I am a member in good standing before the Bar of Kentucky. I agree to accept a status of suspension from serving as an advisor during such time as a complaint may be pending and until such time as the complaint is either dismissed or the participant-member is permitted to resume practice by the Kentucky Supreme Court.
