Rules of Civil Procedure (CR) Amendments
Effective July 1, 2018, CR 3.02(1) and (2) and CR 3.03(1) and (3) of the Civil Rules of Procedure are hereby amended. Click here to see the attached order by the Supreme Court Amending the Rules of Civil Procedure (CR).
Rules of the Supreme Court (SCR) Amendments
Effective September 1, 2018, SCR 3.395 (1) and SCR 3.655 of the Rules of the Supreme Court (SCR) are hereby amended. Click here to see the attached order by the Supreme Court Amending the Rules of the Supreme Court (SCR).
KBA Dues to be Mailed in Mid-July
Kentucky Bar Association Membership Dues for 2018-2019 will be mailed in mid-July. Members will be able to pay online, quickly and conveniently, with a debit or credit card. A username and password will be required to access the payment system. An administrative fee will be assessed. The KBA membership cycle runs July 1-June 30 of each year. Payments are due on or before September 1, 2018. After that date, an additional late fee payment of $50 will be assessed. A notice of delinquency will be mailed after October 15th with an additional cost of $50 if dues are still unpaid. Lawyers Without Rights: Jewish Lawyers in
Germany under the Third Reich
The American Bar Association, with the support of several local sponsors and the help of the KBA, has brought the Lawyers Without Rights display to Lexington.

In the July/August issue of the Bench & Bar, KYLAP explores one of the components for good mental health and overall well-being for lawyers and explains why these practices are so important. Lawyer well-being is in the spotlight nationally. Lawyers are particularly vulnerable to mental health issues. Recent celebrity suicides underscore the need for maintaining good mental health. KBF Logo Annual IOLTA Compliance
It’s that time of year! Every Kentucky-licensed attorney MUST certify their
compliance under SCR 3.830, which governs IOLTA.

SCR 3.830(13) requires EVERY lawyer admitted in Kentucky to certify their compliance with or exemption from the rule on or before September 1st of each year. The Compliance Certification Form is available on the KBA’s secure website at Attorneys either provide their Kentucky IOLTA account information or certify their exemption from participating in the IOLTA program. Exemptions are enumerated in SCR 3.830(14). Firms with multiple attorneys are encouraged to submit a single online form on behalf of the firm and simply attach a listing of all of their attorneys.
