KBA Image for Section KBA Dues to be Mailed by Mid-July
Kentucky Bar Association Membership Dues for 2019-2020 will be mailed by mid-July. Members will be able to pay online, quickly and conveniently, with a debit or credit card. A username and password will be required to access the payment system. An administrative fee will be assessed. The KBA membership cycle runs July 1-June 30 of each year. Payments are due on or before September 1, 2019. After that date, an additional late fee payment of $50 will be assessed. A notice of delinquency will be mailed after October 15th with an additional cost of $50 if dues are still unpaid. Nationwide Practice Analysis Survey by the
Testing Task Force of the National Conference of
Bar Examiners (NCBE): Coming in August
Starting on August 1, attorneys across the country have the opportunity to participate in the NCBE Testing Task Force 2019 practice analysis survey, which will gather current data on the knowledge, skills, abilities, other characteristics, and technology newly licensed lawyers use to accomplish the job tasks they perform. This survey is part of the Task Force’s three-year study to consider the content, format, timing, and delivery methods for the bar exam to ensure it keeps pace with a changing legal profession. The results of the practice analysis, which will be published at the beginning of next year, will be used by NCBE to develop the next generation of the bar exam and will benefit the profession as a whole. Updated FINGAL Form Now Available
The Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Finance and Administration Cabinet (FAC) has updated their FINGAL form and it is effective immediately. All FINGAL forms received by FAC on and after July 1, 2019 must be on the new form located at https://finance.ky.gov/services/legalsvcs/Pages/GuardianAdLitem.aspx in order to receive payment. Orders received on the old form on or after July 1, 2019 will be returned to the submitting attorney to be corrected.
AOC To Offer Legal Training for Dependency,
Neglect and Abuse Cases
The Administrative Office of the Courts will conduct legal training for dependency, neglect and abuse cases (formally titled GAL training). For more information on the advanced and basic trainings, as well as the schedule, click here.

An application for accreditation has been submitted to the Kentucky Bar Association’s CLE Commission.

The deadline to complete your annual CLE requirement for the 2018-2019 educational year was JUNE 30, 2019. You must have a total of 12.0 CLE credits including 2.0 ethics credits to meet the annual requirement. Check your CLE record online at www.kybar.org. Note: The deadline to report your CLE credits is AUGUST 10, 2019 for the 2018-2019 educational year.
